Independent Living Centres Australia (ILEP)

The major State Government funding for SA/NT comes via the Independent Living Centres Australia (ILEP) and pays for a range of equipment for people living in South Australia who have moderate or severe disabilities.

Some points to consider when applying for funding:

• ILEP only funds certain items of equipment and only a certain amount of money will be paid for each type of equipment.
• Equipment repairs are covered.
• The equipment remains the property of the Independent Living Equipment Program to be used by the client until no longer required.
• Related forms need to be completed by a therapist and submitted to Equipment Services, along with a completed priority score.
• Be aware that there may be a waiting time while the orders are on a waiting list.

Special Education Resource Unit (SERU)

SERU will fund equipment for use at school only and in most circumstances the school will apply to SERU for the equipment, in collaboration with a therapist.
